Carefully considering why he chooses to do something is an important barometer for Shannon, in work and in life. It is this lens that allows him to be selective about his clientele, intentional about how he adds value, and clear about what the outcome will be. This Why-How-What formula, adapted from Simon Sinek’s popular Golden Circle logic, constitutes the makings of Shannon’s Vision, Values and Mission.
To live with Passion, Purpose and Perspective.
Living with PASSION means bringing your whole self to the table, staying open to change, and working to authentically understand your fellow man. It means being honest and fair with everyone at all times and treating them with unconditional love — empathy and compassion without judgment. It means serving yourself, first, so that you can better serve your brothers and sisters.
Living with PURPOSE means spending your time in meaningful ways. It means taking the time to reflect and objectively consider past behavior and decisions so that you can learn from them. It means cultivating the wisdom and patience to sleep on important or difficult decisions. It means life is short, and every second is an opportunity.
Living with PERSPECTIVE means putting yourself in other people’s shoes. It means not only seeing new things for the first time, but perhaps more importantly, seeing the same things in new and different ways. Gaining new perspectives means treating every experience, good or bad, as an opportunity for growth. It means staying curious, recognizing that there is a natural balance to all things, that there is a time and place for everything under the sun, and that you have the power and privilege to choose how you will spend your time.
To empower others to live with Passion, Purpose and Perspective.
